Right clicking is a frequently used function on the computer. It allows for a variety of actions to be performed, such as copying and pasting text or images. But, if you are unfamiliar with how the trackpad of an Apple MacBook or other laptop works, right clicking may seem confusing. This is especially so when computer mice and other trackpads tend to have specific areas to press on for left and right click.
There is no need to fear, however! While right clicking on the trackpad may seem impossible since pressing on the bottom right of the trackpad doesn’t seem to do anything, it actually isn’t where you press on the trackpad, but how.
How do I right click with a trackpad?
To right click on the trackpad, you want to put two fingers onto the trackpad and press down with both at the same time. Make sure you have a little space between your fingers, otherwise it may think you are just left clicking. If you click with more than two fingers, it won’t work either. It has to just be two fingers!
It may feel weird at first, but you’ll get used to it the more you do it. But that’s all there is to it!
And, if it helps, you can always press with two fingers at the bottom right of the trackpad; the area you press doesn’t matter, but it may feel more intuitive.
